Madhya Pradesh: In a historic move, Central and State Government employees have been united to register their protest against New Pension Scheme (NPS). Representatives of Central and State Government employees’ unions and associations have unanimously decided for strengthening ‘National Movement for Old Pension System (NMOPS)’.
It is the first time when Central and State Government employees’ have initiated a joint movement against NPS from Jabalpur.
This was decided in a maiden combine meeting of Central and State Government employees’ unions and associations convened by GCF Mazdoor Sangh at Panehra Community Hall, GCF Estate, on Sunday.During the meeting, NMOPS, National Works Committee (Defence), representative, Prem Sagar (Ordnance Factory Ambajhari), Upendra Verma, State Spokesman, Uttar Pradesh, Dr Hari Prakash Yadav, Vice-President, Uttar Pradesh, Parmanand Baheria, State President, Madhya Pradesh, Nem Singh, State President, Hind Mazdoor Sabha, Mithai Lal Rajak, President, GCF Mazdoor Sangh, Arnab Dasgupta, OFK Labour Union were sharing dais while Rohit Seth, Santosh Singh, Suraj Invati, Rambhuvan Patel, Chandan Kumar and others were present.
On the occasion, senioremployees’ leaders held discussions to prepare further course of action for strongly pressing their demands before the government to sack New Pension Scheme.
They also expressed their views on setback of new pension scheme for the employees.Addressing the meeting, Prem Sagar informed that the Government of India spent only 0.1 percent as pension fund while other countries like Italy has pension fund from 9–13 percent.
Through new pension scheme the government has spent hard earned income of employees in share market to benefit capitalists which has no guarantee of recovery of fund. The government has stopped pension of employees appointed after January 1, 2004 and started a scheme of insurance company without any consent of employees.
Pension is the constitutional right of employees but the government is trying to escape from social security of its employees. Upendra Verma charged that political persons are being given lifetime pension and other benefits on their election as MLA or MP for a single day while several leaders are getting 4 – 5 pensions but the employees who spent their life for working in service of the nation are deprived of getting pension benefit.
Parmanand Baheria and Dr. Hari Prakash Yadav informed that during the movement state and central government employees will stage hunger strike in front of residences of MLAs and MPs, on October 28 and stage Gherao of Parliament, on November 26.
On the occasion, Ajay Rajak was unanimously nominated as regional convenor of NMOPS while Ajay Rajak and Sharad Borkar were given responsibility of declaring working committee in Jabalpur. Sharad Borkar convened the programme while Mithailal Rajak proposed vote of thanks.
